Protecting Rochford’s Green Spaces from Development

Our countryside: Something that should be passed onto future generations for them to enjoy. Unless we fight to keep it we will lose it

STOP THE DESTRUCTION OF OUR GREEN SPACES!

Green spaces all over the district are under threat.

Mass house building is planned throughout Rochford district; in Hullbridge, Hockley, Hawkwell, Rochford and Rayleigh. This is despite the fact the infrastructure cannot support such development; that local communities don’t need it and local people are opposed to it.

If these developments go ahead they will not only destroy the green spaces that people and wildlife currently enjoy – they will also destroy the character and quality of life in the areas affected. FOREVER!

Unless we fight to keep our green spaces we will lose them! It’s as simple as that.

The countryside is under threat all over Britain. This excellent film clip was made by people in the Bristol area fighting against the developers

REASONS TO SAY NO
TO THE BUILDING

  1. It will reduce the value of peoples’ homes
  2. Local people don’t need this level of building
  3. It will destroy our green spaces
  4. It will mean increased traffic congestion, noise, litter and pollution
  5. Crime and anti-social behaviour will increase
  6. Waiting times for doctors and dentists will get longer
  7. Gas, electric and water supplies may be affected
  8. The quality of life for many local residents will be destroyed
  9. And, last but not least, because it’s undemocratic - local people don’t need it or want it!

Questions that need an answer....

Developers don’t care about local people or local communities - their only aim is to to make as much profit as possible from the destruction of the green spaces in whatever area they’re allowed to build in.

But:

  • Why has the council continued to force the building through when it doesn’t need to?
  • Why aren’t Councillors defending the interests of the local people they’re supposed to represent?

So, shouldn’t we start electing Councillors that will stand up for us?
